DIU Metering & Spend for Transport
How movement and inference are priced in Distributed Intelligence Units, and how spend is tracked.
About this course
Vertical stack context: DOSFIUniversity (research) → DOSFI Academy (this course) → MeshNativeExchange (publishing & monetizing). Students progress from Learning → Building → Publishing → Monetizing. Every bundle that moves through the Transport Layer has an economic cost measured in DIU (Distributed Intelligence Units). This course introduces DIU metering at an intermediate level: what is being metered, how spend is estimated during routing, and how actual spend is reconciled during settlement. You will learn the difference between an estimate and a settled charge, and why DIU is compute-backed rather than a currency. This module provides an architectural deep dive into the metering, spend tracking, and settlement logic within the Mesh-Native Transport Layer. It focuses on the integration between DIU instances and the MNE to ensure deterministic financial attribution for multi-node inference workflows. Learners will analyze the intersection of Routing Policy, Bundle Schema, and Identity Fabric to manage cost-efficient data propagation across the ecosystem.
What you'll build

- Debug Adapter-level cost attribution across the Identity Fabric.
Prerequisites
- Completion of DOSFI Fundamentals of Mesh-Native Transport.
