Lab: Mesh-Native UI Schema — Design a Distributed Interface
Master the design of mesh-native UI schemas using the DOSFI surface model to decouple interfaces from centralized server state.

What you'll build
Vertical stack context: DOSFIUniversity (research) → DOSFI Academy (this course) → MeshNativeExchange (publishing & monetizing). Students progress from Learning → Building → Publishing → Monetizing. In this lab, you will move beyond traditional DOM manipulation and build a distributed UI schema. You will learn to define component trees that reside across multiple Distributed Intelligence Units (DIUs), implementing real-time state binding, privacy-aware rendering policies, and surface resolution logic.
Skills you'll practice
- Differentiate mesh-native UI architecture from DOM-centric models
- Construct valid DOSFI surface schema JSON objects
- Implement distributed state bindings for multi-DIU synchronization
- Configure fine-grained privacy tiers for localized rendering
- Simulate surface projection using the mesh-native renderer
Before you start
- Foundations of Distributed State Machines
- Basic proficiency with JSON schema validation
- Understanding of asynchronous event-driven architectures
